           It seams the weather has started to settle down at last the rain is disappearing and so are the dreaded cyclones. The field has done well with the rain and is greening up nicely. Now the mower is getting a good run for our money.. Only wish we could do something with that dam wind. It was around 25-30knots for most of the day but i guess we can't have everything.

                      We had a small crew out to test the air today and it was great to see people return after the break.  First up we have a great aerial shot from Cameron's UAV thingy....

As you can see the field has greened up nice and the strips and car park are looking great.

Taking all the fun out of sunburn by sitting in the shade and doing all the flying.

Cameron also flew his elec twin SkyMule. 

Greg was out with his new Ultimate Bi-Plane ready for its maiden

As you can see, he has kept up with his usual standards in  the building quality area.

Very nice indeed. You must have to much free time Greg. 

It's first flight was a bit hairy with the control rates set as per instructions. After a safe landing and resetting the control throws to half the recommended value the second flight was fantastic.

Very smooth and nice to watch.

James flew his P47 Thunderbolt. After a little bit of carby adjustments it took to 

the sky with ease. Looks really great flying with the wheels up.

Next up Billy (Damien) flew his huge Pits honing his skills getting ready for the 

terror of his warbird flight. The Glamours Glenn will soon be back in the air.

You have to love the Mustangs.

Great to see flying back underway. 

Anthony had a small flight line ready and started with a few flights his Trojan.

His 60 size boomerang flew great even in the high winds. It flew more like

a Pilatus Porter almost flying backwards. It might have been Anthony just showing off

As usual... 

He produced this massive quad copter and WOOW what a great bit of fun.

Don't let the size fool you it flys great and does some amazing flips and stunts.

Anthony tells us that these will be available for us all soon and can be purchased 

for under $50.  What a bargain....

That's an IPhone next to it. Big Huh...

The Club is about toe enter a new phase and the future is looking very bright. We are about to order new shirts with new colours, Hats and even stubby coolers

 (to keep the water bottles cool) are on the way. 

We have a big event at the end of May at the show grounds so watch for more details.

Welcome back........

At last the weather seams to be settling down a little. It hasn't been all bad with the rain helping to get the grass growing and stop all the dust. The problem now is keeping the fuel up to the mower to keep the grass from over running the field.  We are never happy..

Now that all the Christmas and new year festivities are behind us

we can concentrate on getting back to a bit of Mayhem..Oops Flying.

A few club members are starting to return and after a long day at the controls of 

the mower our resident workaholic President Anthony was up for a fly.

The Aquila was put through its paces.

 After a few grams of epoxy the Stuka was fixed and ready for some 

more punishment.

Turk had his tarmac full with the Dual Ace, Fly baby and boomerang all rready to go.

It may be old but it sure does like the extra bit of power it now has. Loops and Rolls were no problem for this old girl. ( thats the plane not Turk)

Dennis was in fine form with a great flight of his Yak. The aero's were only 

out done by his smooooth landing. You sure have got those fingers working 

right now Dennis. Rumour has it that the Pc9 is almost ready for its maiden.

Watch this space.........

Billy is enjoying flying his pitts. He is honing his skills in readiness for 

the onslaught of the dreaded Mustang.....Not long now....

Curtis had his Trex out now equipped with a new engine. A bit of tuning and setting up still

to go but it does show lots of promise. 

Curtis had his regular flight line of Astro hog and extra all ready to go.

Well it was a bit short and sweet this week but hopefully we will be back in 

force in the coming weeks. 

I am off to the land of """sheep"""" NZ for the next couple of weeks so it may be a bit quiet here but i will upload all the latest goss as soon as i get back..

Don't forget to take those photos so i can put them up for all to see.....

We may have to start a roster for mowing for those that are interested. 

 We can't have the prez thinking he owns the Toro....

We have had a commercial brush cutter donated to the club and it is

now up and running and will be housed with the mower. The cost was just over $40

to get it up to scratch.

Cairns Model Aero Club would like to pay tribute to a great club member and very respected friend.

Graeme Toune 

Graeme courageously fought a silent but long battle with leukemia which sadly ended on Saturday the 27th December. His presence and mate-ship will be greatly missed by all our club members. We send our condolences out to all his family and friends.

Farewell Graeme may you rest in peace.

The weather has sure heated up and the year has got away from us again so it's time for a quick fly and a few refreshing drinks to round out the year.

 Turk and his great pit crew Simon  had a bit of trouble with the Pt-19 but managed to get a few good flights in
with the rest of their flight line. The Dual Ace finally had it's maiden and it flew fantastic. There was a great mound of "O"rings left behind Turk after the flight but it was all worth it. A bit of magic liquid on the under carriage was needed before the next flight but that too was a success,  Great to hear the sound of the twins in the air...

Michael had his camera strapped to the leg of his katana for another one of his rip tear or bust flights.

 Rob had a great flight with
 his MSX-R. Now fitted
 with his old Dle 30.

Curtis had his usual hanger out for a run.

Anthony had no luck trying to coax his Aquila into life so he gave his MSX-R a flogging instead. Sure got rid of any cobwebs in that one.

He followed up with a good gentle flight of his Boomerang.

 James (alias the Spectrum salesman) had his P-47 up and flying and looking good.







He also had his son Daniel out for a trial flight with his trustworthy Edge. It proved to be a real tail dragger today as the tail wheel was sort of missing.

Cameron was out to master his foamie today.

       James 2 had his massive 4 prop gyro out for a spin. James 1 was also fascinated.     

What was that saying about small things and small minds... OOps nothing..

I mean..It was cool to see flying.

Congratulations to James 2 for going solo today with his boomerang. Well done.

Dennis had his Yak on full tilt and put on a good show. You sure have come a long way since the crash and burn days of old. Well done Dennis.

                 

It was finally that time of year were we had to cleanse the throat and say cheers to that big guy with the white beard and red suit. He has been given permission to use our runway this Christmas as long as his reindeer don't leave to much shit on the taxi ways. .....

Remember Santa we have all been very very good this year....   

The club would like to thank all its members and all others that have contributed to our continued success. We have gained many friends through out the year and i would like to say hi to a great flying club way down south in Phillip Island Victoria. I was lucky to meet the president Brad Crossman a year ago and we have been in regular contact since. They operate in a similar style to our club. While on the good news side of things i am very pleased to tell you that Graemes continued fight for good health is finally heading in the right direction. He is looking and feeling a whole lot better. Hopefully he will be able to venture home again soon. Can't wait to see you back out and flying. 

Seeing how you are off the alcohol for a while we have all decided to have a couple of extra drinks for you.......
